I hate Mondays, especially Mondays that suck. I know, deep, but this one did. My classes seemed to drag on forever.... my class of freshmen was so bad at some point I was screaming at them, I know not my finest moment. I just get tired of trying to be everything, I know we all do. A good daughter, sister, friend, girlfriend, roommate, teacher....... ahh. Apparently I'm just not good at all of them, lol. There's one teacher at our school, who looks like she weighs 50 pounds, but is so sweet with the kids, and super patient. My friend Kelly and I decided she spends time thinking about them instead of eating. Mean, I know, but true. My boyfriend is currently not speaking to me.. which is awesome, I'm not even sure why really, and I just don't know if I want to go to work tomorrow. The one ray of sunshine I have is that next week is a three day Jewish holiday, man do I love Jewish people. Well it's really two days (Tues/Wed) but I decided to use all 14 of my days off this year, so Mon/Tues/Wed it becomes. :) I felt so much like Office Space today when someone says, oh do you have a case of the Mondays? Sigh.
Tomorrow will be better.
I hope.

Africa...
So, I'm back into the swing of school which is always a bit of a struggle...
This year I'm teaching four sections of sophmores and one of freshmen...
My freshmen class looked precious the first day and soon proved otherwise (stories to come), my sophmores looked crazy and are... the only students I truly enjoy seing at this point are my old students... It's just so much nicer to see them now that I don't have to teach them... so I attempted in losing some weight this summer after being a blob this year (I ate out allll the time!) and it worked a little...
so I'm watching the juniors while their teacher is at a meeting, they say, "Miss you looked like you lost some weight! Did you go to Africa this summer?"
It's weird but exciting knowing... not another first day/week of school to get through ever! Teaching has been quite an adventure, but I don't think I could do another year of it.... I have new found respect of course for teachers that do this for real for years in the Bronx and other places like it... I had my students write observations about their neighborhood leading up to talking about the scientific method... I got observations like, "I see gangsters, I see police cars, I see people smoking up"and so forth... interesting...
There are at least two seniors in my school who are pregnant (this is a big deal because only 30% of our students are girls, and there are only 300 students in total.... When one of the senior teachers asked one of them what it felt like to be pregnant... she said it feels nice? Nice? Mmmmm at 17 I don't think that's one of the words I would use. Both of them wear these tight little shirts so you can obviously see and you can also see their bras through their shirts.... interesting...
Unfortunately my school is no joke either.... We have already run out of paper, that's right, it's not possible on the 5th day of school to get any paper for our students.... again interesting.... what they do with the budget who know...
One of the best things about my new apartment is of course no more craziness on the roommate end, but that we have Tivo! I'm off to catch up on gossip girl.
Much love..
